Dr. Erik Vose (NMD) Naturopathic Physician Tucson, AZ
Welcome to a brief introduction to my Naturopathic medical practice. I started my self-healing journey in 2003 by dramatically changing my lifestyle and medical treatments, and have been expanding my knowledge and experience in natural medicine since then. As the son of a medical doctor and a lifelong patient of conventional medicine, I can certainly appreciate the benefits of modern medicine and wish to integrate all options available in the safest possible way for myself, my own family, just as well as my patients.
The type of care I believe in is highly individualized, patient-centered and patient empowering integrative medicine. I respect each patient as a valuable member of human society, regardless of differences of opinions about medicine, spiritual/religious, diet, politics and other lifestyle choices. I strongly advocate for medical rights for patients to decide on their own treatment decisions.
I've worked as a licensed naturopathic doctor since 2015 and have seen thousands of patients in my practice, encompassing every field of medicine from cancer treatments to autoimmune disease, neurological diseases, hormone imbalances, environmental toxins, infections, and non-opioid based chronic pain management. In 2020 my practice expanded to focus on the autonomic nervous system and neuroimmunology when I began to see rapid success with psychoemotional imbalances using a holistic neuroimmunology perspective. The primary goal of naturopathic medicine in general is to help the body get back into self-healing mode, which means patients must be able to get back into rest/digest/repair mode and the body ideally can heal itself. Within the autonomic nervous system, the parasympathetic nervous system is chiefly responsible for coordinating the self-healing process. My goal as a naturopathic doctor is to identify what is needed for the body to heal itself, while also managing the specific disease processes for each patient with the most gentle and supportive treatments available to get the job done.
Regardless of your condition and choices for your medical care, I will collaborate with you to help you harness your innate healing power. I believe in a collaborative and patient empowered model of naturopathic medicine, which uses carefully chosen therapies to bring unique patient circumstances back into balance. While simultaneously utilizing safe modern scientific breakthroughs, Naturopathic medicine also incorporates truly traditional methods of healing as well to provide truly integrative medicine. Medical recommendations are made based on evidence from scientific literature, traditional health practices, and clinical experience.
Naturopathic medicine emphasizes an integrative model of healing, reaching across fields of science to guide patients through the treatment process, offering predicting test results and expected outcomes with utmost focus on transparency to the patient to establish trust. The short term successes we achieve over time allow trust and therapeutic alliance crucial to healing chronic disease. Through this therapeutic alliance, I offer an open and authentic experience with each patient to foster healing through supporting the social engagement system and parasympathetic nervous system.
Often we heal in relationship to others. As such it is an honor to support your self-healing journey through authentic and compassionate empowerment.
My treatment success strategy
As a Naturopathic Medical Doctor in Arizona I am licensed to practice medicine as a physician to diagnose and treat illnesses. In the intake process I take the time to seriously listen and discover what makes your experience of illness different based on your unique situation. Then collaboratively we find practical and cost-effective solutions to guide you back to health.
I can help you find the best solution for your unique health situation, using all reasonably available tools to get to your health goals. A wide range of safe and natural treatments are available such as nutritional and herbal medicine, prolotherapy/perineural therapy, homeopathy, intravenous therapies, gentle physical adjustements and biomechanical support, and much more.
When needed, we can use pharmaceutical medications, order advanced testing, and refer to other medical specialists. Naturopathic physicians are trained to work alongside other medical providers and regularly integrate with other treatment plans in order to improve results and reduce side-effects. If you are facing side effects of treatments, there are likely many natural tools to help improve your care from other providers.
My treatment success strategy is based on educating patients about the resources that are available, and supporting patients to identify and acheieve their goals in health. Being well informed about their health condition, patients continue to manage their own health long-term, with sustainable self-care techniques and lifestyle awareness while we navigate your healing journey together. In this model of care, there are actually causes to illness that can and will be discovered. To achieve greater insight into individual disease patterns, a wide variety of testing options are available to guide the treatment process such as micronutrient, hormone, gut microbiome, neurotransmitter, and antibody testing. See my naturopathic labs page for specific examples of specialized testing available.
